You might be thinking, "Why should I care about followers?"
Here's why:
It's free marketing. Where else can you reach thousands of potential customers for free?
It's a direct line to your audience. No middlemen, no gatekeepers.
It's a testing ground for ideas. See what resonates before you go all in.
It's a network multiplier. Each follower is a potential gateway to their network.
Followers aren’t just business metrics. They’re your ticket to business growth if you play it right, but here’s the caveat:
It’s about having the right following.
The right way to build a following:
Think of your social feed as a cocktail. You need the right mix to make it irresistible:
Personal content: Show your human side. People connect with people, not brands.
Entertainment: Make 'em laugh, make 'em think. Keep it spicy.
Value bombs: Drop knowledge that makes your followers go "Damn, that's good."
Here's the quick tip:
Use high-engagement tweets to prime the algorithm. Then, follow up with your business content.
The key to making this work properly is you want to forget about curating a perfect online persona. It’s BS.
Post what you actually believe. Your real thoughts, not what you think people want to hear.
It's okay if not everyone agrees. In fact, it's better that way.
Spark conversations. Get people thinking critically. That's where the magic happens.
As a general rule of thumb you want to find some way to get value, either through:
Entertainment
Education
Inspiration
And I’ve recently gotten the question: do some of these even matter?
If I go viral for a personal take, will it lead to leads?
Short answer is yes.
And it’s something that’s been talked about for years by Gary Vee:
"Jab, jab, jab, right hook"
Build a following of smart people and entrepreneurs.
Give, give, give, then ask.
The bottom line?
Followers aren’t just numbers. They’re leverage—if you know how to use them.
Start mixing your content. Be real. And play the long game with smart strategy.
You’ll thank yourself later.
Until next time,
Ephraim
